OUTSTANDING BARTLEYANS
 |
Ronald Liew Wing Kong
- B Eng; MBA
- Group CEO QCD Group
1964 to 1967 |
While in Bartley, he was a member of LDDS and Science Society, and
represented the school in Inter-School Science Quiz.
He was also a school prefect (1966 and 1967), and the top GCE O Level student 1967 with 5 distinctions.
Ronald has a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) degree from the University of Singapore (1973/74 batch). While there he became a Council Member of the University of Singapore Engineering Society (1970/71).
Upon graduation, he joined Singapore Airlines as Market Research Officer and later as International Relations Officer. His other experiences include those in General Electric (GE) as Quality Engineer; Apple Computer as Procurement Engineering Manager, and later as Product Engineering Manager and IPO Manager, Taiwan.
Ronald started QCD Electronics Pte Ltd in 1994 as a Global Agency &
Trading Company, mainly in Printed Circuit Boards, with offices/partners in USA, Europe and Asia. He later started QCD Technology Pte Ltd in 1995 as a Service Repair Company for Computers and Mobile Phones, covering Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia.
True to his keen entrepreneurial spirit, Ronald recently started Grand Cruise Pte Ltd in Jul 2008, a company with business to operate boat charters.
As to the beliefs and experiences, Ronald has this to share:
- Coming from a poor family, sharing one room during childhood with parents and 3 siblings, it is easy to lament and complain about how difficult life is. To have a negative and inferior attitude would not help yourself or others around you. Instead one should think, dream, plan and act to change and improve our life.
- In business, whether we are selling a product or service, it helps to remember to provide good Quality, at competitive Cost and Delivered on time (hence his company’s initial -- QCD).
Though coping with a busy work schedules, Ronald still finds time to give something back to our alma mater, as a Member of the School Advisory Committee.
He would like to encourage all Old Bartleyans to come forward to serve Bartley in whatever way they can. Participate in or be Office Bearers in the School’s or OBA’s activities. He indicates that through this contribution, we will not only enrich ourselves, but also help to raise the standard of Bartley to the highest level, something which we can all be proud of.
