Mr Chandra Das

Mr Chandra Das has been the Chairman of NTUC FairPrice for the past 10 years.
Before this he had served as Singapore Trade Representative to the USSR (1970-1972), Member of Parliament for Cheng San GRC (1980-1996), Chairman with the then Trade Development Board (1982-1986) and Managing Director of Intraco Ltd (1976-1986). He was an active sportsmen and student leader in Bartley.
He captained the school in cricket and played hockey, badminton and athletics. At the same time, he was also the head prefect in school and president of the debating team.
Mr Chandra Das indicates that a degree after all is merely a testimony of structured learning completed. The important thing is for one to believe in oneself, work hard and smart, and always does one's best.
During his career, he received a number of accolades: Distinguished Service Award given by NTUC (National Union Congress), Golden Cross of Merit from the Government of Poland, and a President's Medal from the Australian Chamber of Commerce.
