OUTSTANDING BARTLEYANS

Mr Arun Mahizhnan Deputy Director at the Institute of Policy Studies ( IPS ) Professor (Adjunct) at the School of Communication & Information, Nanyang Technological University Class of 1959 - 1963

Mr Arun Mahizhnan was a student in Bartley from 1959 to 1963 in secondary and Pre-U classes. He is grateful for a wonderful period of education and personal development in Bartley thanks to a group of dedicated and colourful teachers led by the Principal, Mr E W Jesudasan.

Presently he is the Deputy Director at the Institute of Policy Studies ( IPS ) and, concurrently, a Professor (Adjunct) at the School of Communication & Information, Nanyang Technological University.

Mr Arun's responsibilities include assistance in setting the strategic direction of IPS, overseeing its research output and the management of the institute. In addition, he leads the research work in the areas of Arts & Culture and Information Society at the Institute.

Before joining IPS in 1991, he had worked in both the public and private sectors for 20 years, mostly in public communication fields. He has been a member of many Government committees and Boards on the arts and broadcasting as well as being a Director of Practice Performing Arts Ltd and The Substation.

Mr Arun holds a Bachelor's Degree in Arts from the University of Malaya and a Master of Arts degree from Flinders University, Australia.
