COL (R) Mark Wong Lai Choong

COL (R) Mark Wong turned his childhood passion for airplanes into a career in the Republic of Singapore Air Force, flying first the A-4 fighters and later the F-5E/F supersonic fighters.
As a Major, Mark commanded the RSAF's 144 Squadron and led his squadron at Exercise Red Flag in Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada, USA, the first time a Singapore squadron participated in this major United States Air Force (USAF) exercise.
As a squadron commander, Mark was the leader of the RSAF's F-5 Aerobatic Team in 1981 and also the leader of the National Day Flypast in 1982.
Mark Wong also served in various senior positions such as Deputy Head of Air Operations in RSAF Headquarters and later was commander of Singapore 's air defence system. As a Colonel, Mark led Air Force Inspectorate for the safe and effective accomplishment of the RSAF's missions.
Before retiring, Mark was the first air force officer to serve as deputy Commandant of the Singapore Command and Staff College.
Mark is a graduate of the USAF's prestigious Air Command and Staff College. Later he also attended the Air War College, the senior USAF institute, graduating in the top 25% of his class. Mark Wong also holds a Bachelor's Degree in Science (Political Science), with first class honours, from Auburn University, USA.
In national and military awards, Colonel (R) Mark Wong holds the Public Administration Medal (Military) (Silver), the Long Service Award, and the Good Service Award.
